THE STEVE CANNINGS AWARD: CRITERIA
The Steve Cannings award has been presented by the BCFO since 2007 to honour the memory of Steve Cannings, an outstanding ornithologist, naturalist, photographer, and conservationist. The award recognizes someone who has made significant contributions over a long period of time in one or more of the following areas.
1. Research on bird biology or ecology, or detailed documentation of birdlife of any portion of BC.
2. Conservation of birds or of bird habitat in BC.
3. Public education about birds in BC.
4. Distinguished service to BC birding
Presentation of the award is usually made at the annual BCFO conference.
Nominations are sought from any BCFO member. Nominations must include a statement outlining why you consider the nominee to be worthy of the award. The awards committee may follow up for more details if necessary. Priority in bestowing the award may be given to nominees who are BCFO members; however, membership is not a requirement for receipt of the award.
Nominations received after April 15th may be held over for consideration in the following year.
Nominations should be sent to Gary Davidson, Chair of the Steve Cannings Award Committee, either at P. O. Box 294, Nakusp, BC, V0G1R0 or by email to gsd37@yahoo.ca
